Glen Cove Youth Bureau Accepting New Participants for RAK Program
Effort Gives Residents Yard Work Assistance While Helping Teens Earn Money
Glen Cove, NY Oct. 21, 2015 - With the crisp fall wind in the air and tree leaves creating a canvas of color on lawns across the City, the Glen Cove Youth Bureau would like to remind residents that their Rent-A-Kid (RAK) program is year-round initiative and is continually accepting new participants.
Notice to Homeowners Regarding Recycling Scavengers
It has come to Mayor Reginald Spinello's attention that in certain sections of Glen Cove, homeowners are being disturbed by individuals rummaging through their recycling bins and removing bottles and cans. This act is in violation of our City Code, has a negative impact on quality of life and is a matter of public safety.
Should you encounter such a problem DO NOT confront the individuals. Please contact the Glen Cove Police Department at 676-1000 and they will send an officer to handle the situation.
Commercial Property Tax Decrease in Mayor Spinello’s Proposed Budget
To view a draft copy of Mayor Reginald Spinello’s proposed 2015 Budget, click on this link. Please remember that this is a proposed budget and is subject to change before the budget vote on October 28, 2014.
A commercial property tax decrease is within Glen Cove Mayor Reginald Spinello’s proposed 2015 budget. Commercial real estate taxes will decrease .84 percent which translates to a reduction of $80 in taxes per $500,000 of assessed value. The proposed budget includes a minimal increase of 1.17 percent in residential property taxes, or $38 for a home with an assessed value of $500,000.
