October 1, 2015… During the month of October, the Glen Cove Water Department will be conducting their semi-annual fire hydrant flushing of 85 dead-end water mains. This process is to clean accumulated dissolved mineral sediments in the water mains prior to the system’s peak usage period.

During the flushing period, residents may detect some water pressure fluctuation and discoloration. This discoloration poses no health risk. Customers may choose to keep a supply of clear water in the refrigerator for drinking and cooking during periods of any discoloration in the water.
