August 17, 2015…The 2015 Mayor’s Snapper Derby hosted by the Glen Cove Anglers Club brought out 75 children to the Pryibil Beach Fishing Pier for a morning of “reel” fun. While the fish didn’t cooperate with this year’s competition, kids and their families did catch a day of sun and surprises,” said Glen Cove Mayor Reggie Spinello. “Every child was a winner,” added Tom Manzione of the Glen Cove Anglers Club. “Thanks to generosity of our event sponsors each child received a free tee-shirt, hot dog and soft drink and a fishing accessory.” And while it was a challenge to hook a big one, four participants did succeed in winning with their own catch of the day.
