Jan. 19, 9 a.m. First Baptist Church; 10 a.m. Finley Middle School

Mayor Reginald A. Spinello and the City Council invite everyone to join them for the annual City of Glen Cove and Glen Cove School District tribute to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The 31st annual commemoration of the historic achievements for civil rights forged by Dr. King will be on Monday, Jan. 19 beginning at 9 a.m. at the First Baptist Church on Continental Avenue.

From the First Baptist Church, the Glen Cove  Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday Commemorative Commission will lead the way for a symbolic march through downtown Glen Cove to the Finley Middle School on Forest Avenue. The Commission will then offer a program that includes  both visual and vocal presentations to honor Dr. King, the slain Civil Rights leader, America's Nobel Peace Prize winner and champion of the poor and disenfranchised.

All are invited to attend.
