The City of Glen Cove Christmas Tree is officially aglow with more than 5,000 lights and a beautiful new star donated by City Hall staff. Many thanks to Lucy and Jeffery Jackson for donating the 30-foot Norway Spruce, to Woody's Tree Service for transporting the tree from Ralph Young Boulevard, to Joseph Basile Electric for stringing the lights all through last Friday night, and to our Department of Public Works personnel for their hard work in cutting, fitting and placing the tree "just right." What a pleasure it was to have Joe Basile Sr., flick the switch and light the tree. The City Council and I would also like to thank the Glen Cove High School Jazz Band for setting the tone Saturday evening, Glen Cove High School DECA Club members for their assistance at the tree lighting, and the Business Improvement District for bringing us another wonderful winter celebration.
