Glen Cove Recreation Commission Appointed
During their regular meeting on October 14, 2014, Mayor Reginald A. Spinello and the Glen Cove City Council appointed the Glen Cove Recreation Commission. Among the goals of the Commission is the oversight and promotion of City assets which fall under the responsibility of the Parks & Recreation Department; to ensure that Glen Cove’s recreational facilities are being used in a fair and equitable fashion; the development and implementation of a User Agreement for all entities using City facilities; maximizing the revenue stream by seeking additional outside groups to use the facilities; and to review the budgets and fee structures for all leagues and entities utilizing City assets that have User Agreements (non-rentals) in an effort to ensure that all fees being charged to the public are fair, reasonable and affordable.
The Commission at-large members serving a three-year term are: Peter Ciccone, Kenneth Pilla, Brian Simmons, Steven Tripp, and Michael Zangari. Commission League representatives serving a one-year term are: Richard Borer (Glen Cove Jr. Football & Cheerleading); Daniel Cox (Glen Cove Jr. Soccer); Salvatore Farrugia, (Adult League); John Maccarone, (Glen Cove Jr. Baseball/Softball); and Brian Neice, (Glen Cove Jr. Lacrosse). Councilman Michael Famiglietti is the Commission’s acting chairman and Councilman Anthony Gallo, Jr. is the City Council liaison.
