The City of Glen Cove Memorial Day Parade Committee, whose membership includes veterans of all ages from the VFW James Donahue Post 347; American Legion Post 72; American Legion Young Simmons Post 1765; and the Marine Corps League Glob and Anchor Detachment, announced last week they have chosen WW II US Navy veteran Henry K. Banach as this year’s Memorial Day Honoree. Our veterans urge everyone in our community to participate in this year’s Memorial Day commemorations and pay tribute to our nation’s war dead. In addition, our veterans would like to remind us that D-Day, June 6, 2014 marks the 70^th anniversary of the Normandy invasion.
