U.S. Air Force Veteran to be recognized at November 11 Ceremony
Glen Cove, NY, November 2, 2015…Mayor Reggie Spinello and Commander Joseph Lavery of the VFW James Donohue Post 347 announced that Glen Cove will honor Master Sergeant Christina M. Noon at its annual Veterans Day Memorial Service on Wednesday, November 11. “It is a privilege to recognize Master Sergeant Noon as she is the first female to be honored during the City’s annual event that pays homage to our City’s military veterans,” said Mayor Reggie Spinello. “Master Sergeant Noon is a born leader, she has served in the military for over 18 years and is the first female member of the Glen Cove VFW James Donohue Post 347,” said Commander Lavery.
Master Sergeant Noon enlisted in the Army National Guard in February, 1998. She graduated from the Avionic Mechanic Course at Fort Eustis, Virginia, in March 1999, went on to the Air National Guard in February, 2002 and then attended the Security Forces Academy in Texas. Graduating in 2002, Sergeant Noon’s assignments have included the Civil Engineering Squadron, Knowledge Operations Manager and a deployment to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. She is currently a First Sergeant, 106th OG in Westhampton Beach, New York.
Her contributions to the military have been recognized with many awards and commendations including an Air Force Commendation Medal, a Meritorious Unit Award, and an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with two oak leaf clusters and an Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters. Master Sergeant Noon is also the recipient of the Global War on Terrorism Medal, Army Service Ribbon and the NATO Medal. She was born in Glen Cove and currently resides in Huntington, New York.
The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, November 11th at 11:00 a.m. at the Doughboy Memorial, located on the corner of the Glen Cove Library, 4 Glen Cove Avenue.
